Burberry Inspire was launched with The Ideas Foundation in 2018, as a ground-breaking four-year programme of arts and culture experiences, designed to change the way a cohort of young people in Yorkshire see the world and understand their potential.
Bean Research was tasked with designing an impact framework and embedding evaluation to assess the outcomes of Burberry Inspire in Yorkshire. This involved setting clear indicators for success, creating surveys for teachers, and supporting four cultural partners (working in theatre, dance, art and film) to capture and report the difference their programmes made. Bean Research conducted annual teacher surveys, established quarterly monitoring for partners and collected quantitative and qualitative data on participation, engagement levels, and the outcomes for students, teachers and schools.
The data-driven insights from Bean Research supported the Ideas Foundation in refining their approach, ensuring the continued success of the Burberry Inspire programme and reporting the impact on students and schools alike.
Over 10,000 students across nine schools, were engaged, equating to 95% of Key Stage 3 students involved in the programme, with 60% actively engaged in extracurricular activities and workshops. 100% of teachers involved believed the Burberry Inspire programme increased students’ ability to take risks and try something new and 82% of teachers said student confidence improved. Research also showed the legacy of impact, with greater creativity in schools (84% of teachers involved say creativity was reinforced throughout the school) and increased quality of the arts provision in school (66% of teacher agreed).
“Thank you so much for your incredible work, patience and support with all our last-minute requests over the last 4 years of the Burberry Inspire programme. It has been a pleasure to work with you and to see how you beautifully managed to translate onto paper the incredible work done by our Burberry Inspire partners. This really means a lot to us! I will keep in touch for any future possible collaborations.”
