Bean Research was commissioned by Nando’s to undertake a review of its social value, to better understand how the business could best focus their efforts. Bean undertook an external landscaping review, including mapping Nando’s restaurants and employment deprivation indices, developing research among people already working in Nando’s – Nandocas, and creating social value strategy recommendations globally for both individual nations and city-specific (including deep dives for London, Norwich, Chicago and Sydney).

As a result of the research, the social value strategy was developed to increase social mobility in the community and with Nandocas.  This sought to create more opportunities for young people with barriers to work, including those with caring responsibilities, and has led to more focused partnerships with young carer charities in local communities around Nando’s many restaurants across the UK, and greater support for those applying to opportunities and careers at Nando’s.

“Charlotte and the team delivered a valuable and thoughtful piece of work for usTheir short summary presentation has made so many things clear to us in how we solve business challenges and create social value.”
