Bethan Lloyd is Senior Research Manager at Bean Research, where she has spent four years working across strategy, evaluation and learning programmes in justice, defence, health and education. She joined Bean in 2022 following an MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability at Cranfield University, where she received the Director’s Prize. Before Bean, she worked in sustainable fashion, advising brands on ethical sourcing and supply chains.
Bethan leads on methodology and research design across much of Bean’s social value and social return on investment work. She works with organisations to understand the value they create, strengthen the evidence behind it and consider how social value can be embedded more effectively into decision-making, procurement and operations.
Her clients include Nacro, Offploy, CashBack for Communities and the Defence Medical Welfare Service. For Nacro, Bethan worked on the Recovery Near You evaluation, drawing together six years of data to strengthen the evidence available to support NHS recommissioning. She has also led SROI work with Offploy, supporting its evidence for MoJ and DWP commissioning.
Bethan is currently working with CashBack for Communities, Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Government on the SROI of Phase 6, developing a robust methodology for understanding and valuing the programme’s outcomes.
A recent highlight has been working on the evaluation of Thrive, the UK’s leading social and therapeutic horticulture charity, exploring the role that gardening and connection to nature can play for people experiencing trauma, learning disabilities or mental health challenges. Bethan took part in site visits and a client workshop, alongside reviewing the academic evidence linking horticulture and nature with wellbeing outcomes.
Bethan takes a collaborative and practical approach to her work, engaging people with different perspectives and experiences throughout the research process. She combines analytical rigour with hands-on experience, helping organisations build evidence that is useful, credible and grounded in practice.

Bethan is a Level 1 Accredited Social Value Practitioner and is currently working towards Level 3. She is a member of the Institute for Social Value and most recently spoke at its 2026 conference. She is also Head of Create for Young Professionals in Social Value, supporting the development of the network and opportunities for younger professionals working across the sector.
Alongside her work at Bean, Bethan is a Fellow of the RSA and has attended Anthropy at the Eden Project as an Emerging Leader, taking part in conversations about the UK’s social, economic and environmental future.
