In 2019, Berkeley Foundation & Street Elite commissioned Bean Research to undertake a SROI analysis on behalf of Street Elite, based on the distance travelled for the 97 participants of the 2018 and 2019 programmes in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Lambeth, Southwark and Hammersmith and Fulham, assessing the impact through economic benefits, human capital gains, avoided Exchequer costs and wellbeing improvements among programme participants, as a result of the programme.
The overall conclusion is that the investment of £4,000 per participant in Street Elite generates over ten times that in social value over a period of three years through reduced negative health behaviours, increased skills and employment and through engaged and active young people.
“This fascinating research focuses the microscope on the impact of Street Elite. We knew that being in employment has massive financial benefits for the individual, but we didn’t know it came with such dramatically improved health outcomes and reduction in negative behaviours. It’s really valuable insight which will help shape how we define the success of the programme.”.
