Social enterprises generate £60bn a year to the UK economy and their impact extends beyond their immediate employees and customers with social and environmental benefits that ripple across society.
Bean Research conducted two pieces of research. First, to provide an evidence base for supporting the creation and growth of enterprise, analysing empirical data from 38 business programmes, as well as 45 in-depth interviews with enterprise specialists, academics and businesses. Second, to research and write a series of three papers investigating the benefits of buying from social enterprises for large companies, for suppliers, for procurement professionals and for CEOs.
“This new research has shown that whilst there is an ethical imperative for large companies to offer support to their smaller cousins, there is a commercial imperative too.”
